The lovely Hotel de Ville, in downtown Saigon. The French colonialists ran their government from this building. After the Communists took over, they claimed this building as their own.
Ironically, being the "Party of the People," the Communists opted NOT to occupy the Vietnamese-built Presidential Palace, but rather the French-built Hotel de Ville.
Even more ironically, NO ONE but Party members are allowed inside. Power to the People! Well, maybe only a FEW people...
