We returned to Hanoi with no hotel reservations. We visited 4 hotels in the Old Quarter before we relented to stay at the Camillia. See, our guidebook warned it was "decrepit and musty." Lucky for the Joneses, the hotel was just reopening after a remodel!! The bed was SO NEW it still had shrinkwrap on the mattress. All this, plus free internet access and breakfast, for $20/night. Wheeee!
