Toulouse

We landed in Toulouse at 10am, and got on the public bus to the center...imagine my glee when I saw that Tisseo's slogan (the bus company,) was C'EST TOUT MOI!!
Our hotel on the edge of Old Town- an Ibis. Wheeeee
Yay Southern French wine!!! Prepare to please me.
Toulouse was the inspiration for New Orleans' distinctive wrought-iron architecture. All the buildings here are gorgeous!!
Wrought iron balconies and bas-relief on local shopping streets.
Some of the gorgeous churches in Toulouse- the Basilica of St Sernin.
This arch in front of St-Sernin is from before 1000 AD!
Inside the beautiful church
The view from the back of the church
I love this organ setup. It is all handcrafted.
This was my favorite Toulouse building: Notre-Dame du Taur (Our Lady of the Bull). It's a bizarre architectural optical illusion- the rest of the church is lower than the arch.
I loved the varied architecture of Toulouse- this street was very medieval.
The center square of Toulouse, Place du Capitole.
Place du Capitole, and the requisite tourist train....
Toulouse's Jardin des Plantes
Another great Toulouse church, St-Etienne Cathedrale.
Inside St Etienne, and its beautiful pipe organ.
Matt can no longer resist the siren call of a patisserie
He ordered a cafe religeuse, which is two pastry cream puffs, covered in cafe glaze, and held together with whipped cream.
For dinner we went to a local institution: L'Os a Moelle (Bone Marrow), where the 35 euro menu includes ALL YOU CAN EAT FOIE GRAS.
