We arrived at the Marseille Airport on a sunny Easter weekend, and went directly to lovely Aix-en-Provence. Aix's lovely main pedestrian street in the sunshine. France loves its carousels in main plazas; but Aix's was possibly the coolest carousel I've ever seen- very Jules Verne. Another lovely Aix square. What one does in Provence: Drinking Provencal rose wine in a sunny outdoor cafe. The next day, we took a BlaBlaCar ride to Avignon. This is the Pont d'Avignon and the Palais du Papes. The Palais du Papes as seen from the bridge. Avignon is an entire walled city!! This is Matt entering one of the many city wall gates. The wall runs the length of the old town. Our adorable, nearly-perfect hotel, Boquier Hotel. Our adorable Provencal room. Hotel de Ville, with its requisite carousel. We visited Avignon's Les Halles food market- it has an amazing eco-wall outside. PASTRIES INSIDE LES HALLES OMG A typical Avignon treat- a bread baked in a flowerpot! Hmm. I'm guessing this brand of herbs wouldn't sell so well in England. One of Avignon's lovely squares Enjoying the Provencal sunshine!!!! The square of Palais du Papes, with its MASSIVE wall A close-up of the wall
