Oslo, Norway

Oslo, Norway!! This is our AirBnB on the edge of the Old Town.
The AirBnB came complete with two Siamese cats.
It was an interesting flat...it was cluttered with crap, and felt a bit like an aging hooker's boudoir.
But the kitty Oscar was cute.
At Oslo's Royal Palace, where the King and Queen live!
The Royal Palace- only the grounds are available to the public.
The University of Oslo, with artist Edvard Munch's murals inside. Which we didn't get to see, despite the promise of them being viewable on Fridays. Poop.
Playwright Henrik Ibsen lived in a flat near the National Theater, and each day would walk from his flat to the theater for work. He was so beloved that people would follow him and THROW ROSES at him. Today, that sidewalk path is engraved with quotes from his plays.
The National Theater, with Ibsen's statue on the left.
Oslo's Town Hall- possibly the coolest town hall I've ever seen.
Oslo has pieces of Middle Ages history tucked in between all the boring, ordinary architecture: This is a Middle Ages house/restaurant, situated in a public square that used to be the center of Oslo social life.
We visited Oslo's fortress- the hilltops offered amazing views over Oslo's waterfront.
With the color of the water, the sky, and the mountains, a lot of the view reminded us of Seattle.
We aren't the only ones who think Oslo looks like Seattle; after WWII, many Norwegian immigrants settled in Ballard because it looked so familiar.
The view from Oslo's renovated Aker Brygge wharf.
Enjoying the view- and the last of the weekend's sunshine.
There's a lot of cool public art in Oslo. Matt particularly liked this one.
The sculpture is called "Eyes," but I (and apparently everyone else) call it "Boobies." Also: this park felt exactly like the Pike Place Market park overlooking the pier.
We found Ibsen's house, now a museum.
More cool public statues...
