Naples

We arrived in Naples in the late evening, and the next morning began our explorations at the National Archaeological Museum. Much like Barcelona, Naples' Museum has a nativity scene too ("pesepre" in Italian, "pessebre" in Catalan)!
One of the Museum's most famous pieces: The Farnese Bull. This is the largest single sculpture EVER recovered from antiquity.
The Farnese Collection also includes massive statues recovered from Pompeii. This statue of Hercules At Rest stands nearly 8 feet tall.
The entire upper floor of the Museum is filled with mosaics, frescoes, and statues recovered from Pompeii.
The color and intact state of the work is astounding.
The mosaics were kept preserved in Pompeii's ash for nearly 1700 years.
In the Pompeii Archaeological park, these originals have been replaced with copies.
One of the more famous Pompeii statues: The creepy Bronze Runners, from 1st century BC.
Do not tell me this isn't creepy.
The most treasured Pompeii artifact is The Faun, a bronze statue recovered from The House of the Faun.
