May 7, 2021: We walked to Iglesia Sant Jaume in the Gothic Quarter, and received our Pilgrim Credentials!
The Camino officially begins now, with our first credential stamp from Iglesia Sant Jaume, our Camino starting point.
May 16, 2021: We begin our Camino from the Barcelona Cathedral, as the Cathedral chimes precisely 6am.
We walked from the Barcelona Cathedral 7.25 km/4.5 miles to the Horta Labyrinth, the site of the first Camino sign. Part of the Camino was on an escalator!
The sign says 50km (31 miles) and 12 hours to Montserrat. Spoiler alert, this was not correct. :)
7:30am: The official start of the Camino Catalan
After 2 hours of city walking, the Camino becomes much more trail-like.
Walking the Camino means following the yellow arrows. They are painted on trees, curbs, utility poles, rocks, and walls.
A view from Parc Natural de la Serra de Collserola, the largest green space in Barcelona.
Follow the yellow arrows (said in a Munchkin "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" voice)!!
